When entry is put in to either myself or corner pocket could you please give a contact number as I will be making a contact sheet for all players and will also be doing the fixtures in advance complete with timings these will be given out on the first night and will also be behind the bar in corner pocket.

Is Ross Simpson a FDPL player (if so - with whom?)
If not - does that mean this is now being opened up to non FDPL players?

Lol numbers must be down

Comment Posted by mulson Oct 18, 2012 09:12 AM

He dosent play with The Crown Dazza so he is OK.

Ross Simpson isn't an Fdpl player as I said its first paid first in he expressed an interest so I put him on the list, we have had non Fdpl players playing in the past...

I was under the impression that the summer/winter singles (up to now anyway) was always FDPL players only... Fairly sure on that point to be honest.

Which non FDPL players have participated in recent years CP?

I only ask as if its being cut down from 80 players (or whatever ridiculous figure) last time round - surely those 80 players should get first chance to put their names in? Ahead of other players who havent played before?

Out of curiosity - who actually won the this years summer tourney?

Comment Posted by Sting Oct 23, 2012 03:47 PM

Jt Lang to name but one, I won this years tournament hence the -3, it's first paid first in so if you pay quickly you won't miss out...

I agree with daz am sure jt only came in after sombody pulled out after the first wk mite have been the big dog and the reserve list had been used up

I thought ur handicap was already -3 for the summer singles that you just won sting?
No?

As for the non-FDPL players - thats just my opinion based on previous rules. Ive got nothing against Ross Simpson - I just think that the people who were in the last tourney should get first shout ableit it wouldnt suprise me if you struggle to get the 48 this time around based on the "farce" (sorry but true - and im not the only one who thinks so) last time time round by players having to wait hours on games due to too many ties, not enough tables and players playing additional unscheduled ties. Hopefully im wrong and you do fill the slots cos its a good tourney.

Personally i cant play in this one due to other commitments on wednesday nights.

I would be happy to make my customary observations on allocated handicaps as usual though. :-0

The tournament has been restructured due to previous tournament I'm sure I'll get 48 players, I would be surprised if I didnt after all its 24 players
Less that the last tournament. If these players that have problems don't make them heard how can I rectify them you always refer to "others" yet never name any seems strange.

Anyway the tournament has been restructured to make the nights run more smoothly, each player will also get a copy of the contact list and fixtures fir the full tournament, your always so negative Darren...

EVERYONE (Except you) that i talked to who participated about the last tourney reckoned it was a farce. Get all the players who entered last time round to fill in a feedback form and i think we both know what the tone of the responses would be....

Im glad its only 48 players this time round.

Im not being negative - Im being realistic - Couple of years ago FK had 60 or so IM entrants - one "poorly run season" (so i am advised) and the players voted with their feet. All i am saying is that the same thing could happen here - players might not want to bother entering based on their experiences last time round - even though of course things will be different with only 48 entrants. Im surprised that all the slots arent almost filled already - and wonder if this is the case.

Bear in mind that the last two events in CP that you have run, (Christmas doubles / Summer singles) the same mistake was made of opening it up to as many players as wanted to play "so no one would miss out". Both times prior to the event starting you were advised (STRONGLY) by others that there were too many entrants therefore too many ties. Both ran very poorly - the doubles didnt even get finished cos it ran on too long....

Dont shoot the messenger and stop taking things so personally.

If the players don't want to play that is fine but always I seem to be the only one interested in running things these days, sure I've had bad tournament but I've also had many successful ones, certain players made things difficult times aswell which didn't help matters, as I've said I've taken these things on board and changed things, I do actually listen to constructive criticism! I hope that the players appreciate this and continue to support this series as its been going on for about 5 years so far.

There is still a good amount of time until December for names to be in...

Hope so.

Im playing in Clacks else i would be considering it (even though i only won about 2/9 last time round).
Hope its still running in the summer.
Ill be looking to play if so.
